We're a little more than a week away from the June 8 launch date of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (and the 8.9-inch version as well), and that means it's just about time for retailers to get their acts together. First out of the gate is Best Buy, which has just listed the Android 3.1 (guess it's going to launch with the update) tablet on its website as "coming soon" -- which, as we all know, it is.
Best Buy doesn't list pricing, but we figure it should be in line with the $499/$599 16- and 32-gigabyte versions mentioned back at CTIA in March. Just a few more days, folks.

With the comedy sequel premiering on Thursday (May 26), we prepare you for what to expect when the 'Hangover' boys head to Bangkok.

" 'The Hangover' was lightning in a bottle," director Todd Phillips told us back in September of his $467 million-grossing comedy. "You can't judge other successes or other movies based on it."
Well, what if you just so happen to catch that lightning again? And what if, it turns out, you managed to bottle a whole lot more this time? Then can we do some comparing and contrasting with the original? Perhaps even Phillips wouldn't object at this point, with some industry insiders suggesting that "The Hangover Part II" could reel in more than $120 million domestically over the five-day Memorial Day holiday weekend. No R-rated film in history has opened to more than $100 million in box-office receipts.
So how did Phillips & Co. reach this ultra-lucrative point? To understand that, we have to flash all the way back to before the June 2009 release of the original "Hangover," when the film was testing so well in early screenings that Warner Bros. started making plans for a sequel. Just after the flick opened to $45 million, another "Hangover" was officially a go. Where the filmmakers went from there is something you'll find out below in another MTV News cheat sheet: everything you need to know about "The Hangover Part II."
Sobering Up "We were thinking of sequel ideas when we were shooting, which sounds cocky, but we were doing it more because it was just fun to talk about ideas while hanging out on the set," Phillips told us in June 2009. "Two weeks ago I was saying, 'Let's see how it works out.' Now that the movie has really connected, it's something we're doing for sure."
The question was, would all four stars — Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha — return for a new adventure? And how would Phillips spin another "Hangover" story after a ridiculous, couldn't-possibly-happen-twice tale set in Las Vegas? By December of that year, Phillips seemed to have his answer — he just wasn't going to let the secret get out. "It doesn't take place in Vegas, but it's certainly the same characters," he revealed.
Then Phillips and his team kept their heads down and worked on a script — one which, we found out nearly a year later, would take the Wolf Pack to Thailand for the wedding of Helms' character, Stu. True to Galifianakis' word, shooting kicked off in the fall of 2010.
Glug, Glug, Glug Our first peek at the "Hangover Part II" production came in October 2010, with a shot of the boys in an airport (Ontario doubling for LAX) on their way to Southeast Asia. That same month, news broke that Mel Gibson had signed on for a brief cameo as a tattoo artist. But after cast protests reportedly cropped up, the controversial actor was dropped from the film and Liam Neeson was hired to take over the role. (Neeson, in turn, was eventually replaced by Nick Cassavetes). "We just had a long talk about it, I explained it," Phillips told us of his conversation with Gibson to let him know about the recasting. "He certainly understood, you know. He wasn't happy, but he certainly wasn't upset. I mean, it just was kind of a bummer because I think he understood the intention of the casting and the role."
Production wrapped up on January 1 of this year, and a teaser trailer dropped the next month. "It's truly a teaser, so it might end up frustrating more than solving questions," Phillips told us shortly before the promo arrived. He wasn't kidding: We could tell that the pals were in Thailand, that things were not turning out very well for them and that Helms somehow got stamped with a Mike Tyson-style facial tattoo. But other than that, plot info was hard to come by. A full "Hangover Part II" trailer appeared in April, giving us more information about the storyline. The shenanigans get started after Stu's rehearsal dinner, when one beachside drink leads to the guys waking up in a shady hotel. Stu's soon-to-be brother-in-law is missing; Ken Jeong's hilarious gangster, Mr. Chow, is hanging out; and everyone has to get back to the resort before the wedding ceremony is set to begin. Helms told us. "Oh, and also hilarious. I forgot that ... Lots of craziness happened on set, and you'll see all of that in the movie."
Cooper declared that he believes the second film is funnier than the first, which made any initial nervousness secondary to his enthusiasm. "I think it was more excitement once we got the second script, which was really wonderful — actually stronger than the first one," Cooper said. "It was just utter excitement to play these characters again and hopefully deliver a movie where fans will be excited to see what happened. We get to see where [Galifianakis'] Alan lives, we get to see Stu progress to two years, [my] Phil as well, so I think it was just exciting to hopefully provide a lot more comedy for people who liked the first one."
That's exactly what Phillips is hoping too. "I think there are very few sequels that have been made that live up to or exceed their first film. 'The Godfather' is the first one," he told us. "We had always planned on calling it 'The Hangover 2,' and when we finished the script, I changed the cover page and wrote 'The Hangover Part II,' because I think the film lives up to or exceeds the first one. It was very much a nod to 'The Godfather.' "

'It's strange to know I'm not going to be Jacob Black anymore,' actor says on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

Taylor Lautner will be abducting fans to the theater this fall when his action-packed flick "Abduction" hits the big screen. Lautner promoted the upcoming flick when he stopped by "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Tuesday night, also telling the host that he's feeling emotional now that he's wrapped up "Breaking Dawn," the final installment in the "Twilight" series.
"All done. It's very weird. Yeah, we've literally been filming these movies for the past three or four years. It's strange to know I'm not going back; I'm not going to be Jacob Black anymore. ... But on the other hand, we're going to be promoting these movies for the next two years," he said on the show. "I was pretty upset myself, but I think the biggest surprise was Kristen [Stewart]. She's very sweet, yes. I predicted it from the beginning. On the last day, it did get emotional. ... We are all great friends."
Looking ahead to his next venture, "Abduction," which co-stars Lily Collins, Lautner premiered a new clip. In it, the actor is seen getting into fisticuffs with a man on a train. And those paying close enough attention do get a quick peek at his abs.
"It was just a coincidence [that I used to study martial arts and now I do action flicks]," he said. "When I was young, I did every sport possible, and martial arts was one of them. This movie was the first time I got to use it."
So what about all those "Stretch Armstrong" rumors? He explained, "We'll see. There's a lot of stuff in the works."

'It's just blowing me away,' star Tyler Posey says of show's approaching June 5 debut on MTV.

HOLLYWOOD — While we're still about 10 moons away from the TV premiere of MTV's new series "Teen Wolf" (actually, it's on Sunday, June 5, after the MTV Movie Awards), the show's cast and crew celebrated with a beast of a premiere party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Wednesday night.
It was a reunion of sorts for the cast, who began production on the show more than a year ago. And when MTV News caught up with them on the red carpet, they were equally excited and anxious to unveil the series.
"Dude, it's surreal, man — like, I can't believe it was already over a year ago we filmed the pilot, and it's already here. The show premieres in 11 days, and it's just blowing me away," said actor Tyler Posey, who plays lead lupine character Scott McCall. "I cannot believe how fast it came, and I'm just so stoked. I can't even believe it."
Crystal Reed, who plays Allison Argent (Scott's love interest), was just as thrilled to be standing on the red carpet at the show's premiere party.
"It's really surreal," Reed said. "I drove up this morning and I drove by [Grauman's] Chinese Theatre, and I haven't been in Hollywood that long, and I was thinking about how the tourists view Hollywood — and I felt like that once. But I drove up to my own premiere, and I started crying a little, because it's just such a magical moment for us. And to be with these people, I absolutely, genuinely adore them. My castmates are the best people in the world."
While viewers will get their first look at Scott's full werewolf transformation on June 5, Posey recalled the first time he saw himself in the complete monster makeover.
"It was four and half hours to get in all the makeup," Posey said. "I remember thinking, 'Am I gonna have to do this every day, four and a half hours?' But I think the final look, dude, it's nuts. I was staring at myself for so long in the mirror. And then they would get me in the makeup, shoot, and people would be talking to me, having normal conversations, and I'd look in the mirror and I'd be like, 'How the hell are people having normal conversations with me right now? It's just so weird.' But yeah, it really — it totally gets me into character when I'm in that makeup."

For all the "The Hunger Games" fans out there — and we're talking about those who've been onboard since reading (and likely becoming obsessed with) author Suzanne Collins' spellbinding dystopian trilogy — the news surrounding Lionsgate's big-screen adaptation has been almost as intriguing as the books themselves.
MTV News has been hot on the trail of as many details we can muster, and we were lucky enough to chat recently with the young woman who will be Katniss Everdeen, Jennifer Lawrence, about landing the coveted role.
"I was a huge fan of the books before I even really knew about the movies," Lawrence said. "I met with [director] Gary Ross, and we had a very long, nice meeting before the audition," she explained. "And then by the time the audition came around, we were familiar with each other."
Lawrence also spoke about the intense amount of training she's undergone to prepare for Katniss' intense action sequences.
"It's lots of training, but the training is actually really fun," she revealed. "I've done archery for about six weeks, rock climbing, tree climbing and combat and running and vaulting," she said. "Also yoga and things like that to stay cat-like."
The 20-year-old has also addressed the group of folks who took to the Internet to express their less-than-pleased opinions about Lawrence's casting as Katniss.
"I wasn't aware that everybody was so upset until I after I got my hair dyed, and people were like, 'Oh my gosh, blond hair can turn brown. Wow. It's a miracle,' " she joked. "So now is the only time that I'm being told that people hated me at first."

'It's cushier because you can do it naked,' Seth Rogen tells MTV News at film's Hollywood premiere.

HOLLYWOOD — From the outside looking in, voice acting seems just a bit more lax than regular acting. MTV News headed to Hollywood on Sunday for the "Kung Fu Panda 2" premiere to find out what the cast thought of the gig.
"It's the cushiest job in the world," Angelina Jolie, who voices Tigress in the film, told us. "You can bring your kids, you can go in your pajamas, [director] Jennifer [Yuh]'s really good about whatever you want to order for lunch, so you end up ordering pizza with your kids, snacking — it's great."
Jolie admitted that it's not all fun and games and pizza, though.
"What's challenging is that you're not with the other actors, and you have to come back sometime to respond to each other," she said. "You don't know exactly what they're doing with your voice, but when it's a great team like this, you can relax."
Naturally, Seth Rogen and Danny McBride, who play Mantis and Wolf Boss, respectively, took the G-rated subject to a more R-rated place.
"It's cushier because you can do it naked," Rogen said. "And that doesn't come across on voice."
"You always want to do roles naked," McBride pointed out.
"I always do. ... I finally found a way to do it," Rogen admitted. "And I also sit in a big bowl of custard when I do it."
"Oh, that's great," McBride added.
"Yeah. Naked in custard," Rogen continued. "I can finally do all the stuff I like doing at home, at work."
Lucy Liu brought us back to logical territory, echoing Jolie's comments that the challenges in voice acting are doing the recording sessions solo.
"What's difficult is that you don't actually get to see your other fellow actors until you get on the red carpet in Los Angeles. That's always fun, but sometimes you would love the energy of someone else reading with you," she said. "Sometimes you don't really know what's going on because they've made massive changes behind the scenes, and suddenly you're reading something, and then you watch it and you're like, 'Oh my gosh, that's what it was about.' "
"It's the same as any acting thing, really," Jack Black assured us. "You're just trying to imagine fairy-tale scenarios and make them as real as possible."
Black also revealed that, much like his regular acting gigs, he doesn't hold anything back even though he's just working with a microphone.
"I definitely let it rip. But when I go blooper reel, I go pretty blue," he said. "I don't think it's anything that's going to be used on the DVD outtakes."
Veteran actor Dustin Hoffman, who voices Shifu in the film, said that he found the recording booth to be pretty intimidating.
"I would rather do regular acting. I'd rather do interviews — and that's not high on my [list], they're difficult — than going in a room by yourself with a microphone," he said. "You feel like a first-year acting student."

The Foo Fighters are often known for crafting entertaining videos that feel like mini movies. But when they take the stage on June 5 at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards the Foos will leave the movie-making to the pros while they focus strictly on rocking as their new single, "Walk."
It's the first appearance at the Movie Awards by the Foos since 2005, and they join an already star-studded line up that includes fellow performers Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz hooking up for the first TV performance of their song "Out of My Head," followed by Lupe solo on "The Show Goes On."
The 2011 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by actor/comedian Jason Sudeikis and will be broadcast live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
The list of presenters on the show keeps growing too, currently including Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy, with more appearances and performers to be announced soon.
"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" leads the Golden Popcorn nominations this year with eight nods — including Best Movie, Best Fight and Best Kiss — narrowly besting the dream thieves of "Inception" (seven noms) and the wizards of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" (six noms). All three films have been nominated for Best Movie and will compete with "Black Swan" (four nods) and "The Social Network" (five nods) for the night's top prize.
Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET.

It was only a couple of days ago we were reliving the discussions of which devices would be getting Gingerbread eventually -- with the clear choices having been the Motorola Droid 2 and the Motorola Droid X. The Gingerbread leaks have arrived for both those devices and with the semi-official confirmations out of the way, it's no surprise really that Verizon has now posted up the changelog for what is the eventual release of Gingerbread for the Motorola Droid X.
Sadly, the one thing the Verizon changelog lacks is an official release date, so we're still stuck waiting on that but it's nice to know that it'll be soon rather than later at this point, which is bound to make a lot of Droid X owners out there happy.
Let this also stand as a friendly reminder for those of you whom may be rooted -- you'll want to go ahead and decline that update notification when it pops up until some folks get to have a look at it and ensure root can be maintained. Hit the source link below for the full .pdf changelog or you can jump on past the break for the second half of the above image.

Yeah, it's only a dummy unit, and we've already crawled all over the real thing. But this is UC Cellular's HTC Merge, folks. And that means that ... it's the same HTC Merge we've come to know and love ... on US Cellular.
We are a little surprise that there's no USCC branding on the front of this dummy unit, but it does appear on the back (pictures are after the break). Otherwise, same ol' phone. The latest rumored release date is May 31 -- and USCC hasn't come yelling that it's incorrect (it's happened once before), so maybe there's a little more truth to this one. Stay tuned.
Thanks, anon!
